Uttarakhand: Forest dept to investigate 12 tiger deaths this year | PTI

Since January this year, 12 tiger deaths have been reported from tiger reserves in Uttarakhand, raising questions about the safety of these magnificent striped cats. A committee has been established by the state's forest department to look into the circumstances behind the deaths. According to officials, Uttarakhand had 442 tigers as per a census conducted in 2018. This count itself was considered a promising sign regarding the tiger population in the region.
